Dine with the Shield Hero

Fans of the popular new anime series “The Rising of the Shield Hero” (盾の勇者の成り上がり) should definitely be excited right about now. Why? Well, following the huge success of the series so far, supporters of the franchise are desperately trying their best to get hold of the newest merchandise, more and more of which is being announced each week; some of the most anticipated items are the various official figures of Naofumi and Raphtalia, the beloved hero and his adorable partner who fights beside him.

For those unfamiliar with the series as of yet, it’s an “isekai” anime, following the struggles of our Shield Hero Naofumi Iwatani, who, alongside his trusty companions, is fighting against not only regular waves of terrifying monsters, but also the persecution from the kingdom in an attempt to restore the peace of the country.

But not only are the cute badges and keyrings  something to look forward to: it turns out that Princess Cafe is hosting some new collabo cafes dedicated to the series, which are actually happening in Japan now!
There are three such cafes open, with two in Tokyo (Ikebukuro and Akihabara) and one in Fukuoka, running from between June 1stand July 18thof this year.  And not only do the food and drinks look amazing, but some are also linked to the story of the anime!

For example, there will be the “Realisation of love?!” Gagocco nest meal, made with soba noodles, a boiled egg and a thick mushroom sauce. Eagle-eyed fans of he anime will remember the episode when Raphtalia tried to win over Naofumi’s heart by finding a Gagocco egg for him. The other menu items include a “fruit sandwich” with berries and strawberry sauce and an extra fluffy dessert with cotton candy and whipped cream, as well as a special set meal with salad, mashed potato and tomato soup. In addition to this, there will be four drinks, each representing one of the four cardinal heroes!

For anyone lucky enough to go, upon buying any food or any drink from the menu, you’ll receive one of the nine cute little coasters, each of which have a character on them! In addition, for customers who spend ¥2000 in one transaction, you’ll be entered into a prize draw to win one of the three cardboard cut-outs (of either Filo, Raphtalia or Naofumi), any of which would definitely be a unique item to add to your anime merch collection!

With the popularity of the series so far, there will no doubt be even more merchandise and collaborations being announced soon, so make sure you keep your eyes out for more updates!
