The J-Culture Showcase in the ASAKUSA Culture Zone is the home of Japanese martial arts, culture and bu-do demonstrations at HYPER JAPAN Festival 2019!

We have a great group of talented people taking their place in the J-Culture Showcase to show off their incredible skills!
From Judo to Aikido, Yosakoi to Karate, your sure to find something you love at the J-Culture Showcase.

The J-Culture Showcase opens on Friday lunchtime and runs right through until Sunday evening. Take a look at the schedule below to see whats coming when!

Casting Call for Yukata Fashion show!

Japanese traditional kimono are things of beauty, treasured by their owners and often passed down to be cherished across the generations. The kimono and its lighter, summer sister the yukata are made from stunning fabrics and come in all kinds of colours reflecting the changing seasons in Japan.

At this year’s HYPER JAPAN Festival 2019, TeamM2.Inc have organised a Yukata Fashion Show as part of the J-Culture Showcase and are looking for volunteers to take part and wear their a selection of their beautiful yukata on the runway.
TeamM2.Inc, also offer HYPER JAPAN guests the chance to try and wear both traditional and modern Japanese yukata as well as a green-screen photo shooting experience in their yukata at some of Japan’s most iconic locations as a background.

Team M2 are looking for ten women to take part in their Yukata Fashion Show to be dressed in yukata and walk on stage along with some fun, traditional Japanese music. Participants must be HYPER JAPAN ticket holders and will receive a small Japanese souvenir by way of thanks. The Yukata Fashion Show will be part of the J-Culture Showcase on Saturday July 13th, from 3.45 PM to 4.15PM in the ASAKUSA Culture Zone.

Play a great selection of Nintendo Switch games at HYPER JAPAN Festival 2019!

Pokémon Sword, Pokémon Shield, Luigi’s Mansion 3 and The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening will all be playable for the first time in the UK at HYPER JAPAN Festival 2019!

Other Nintendo Switch titles available to play at the show include Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, Daemon X Machina, Super Mario Maker 2 and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate!

Naomi Suzuki on the HYPER Live! Stage

We are delighted to be welcoming Japanese singer and performer Naomi Suzuki to the HYPER Live! Stage this summer at Festival 2019!

Naomi has produced the Bridge Together Project, part of the Beyond 2020 programme, designed to create a long-lasting Olympic legacy for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The project aims to introduce the beauty of Japanese culture to a diverse global audience and encourage people from all over the world to visit Japan.

Naomi is also one of the special ambassadors of the host city, Fukuoka for this year’s Rugby World Cup in Japan.
As part of her performance at HYPER JAPAN Festival 2019, Naomi will be singing the Rugby World Cup Anthem, World in Union on the HYPER Live! Stage surrounded by the flags of all the nations taking part.
